The Struggle to be Holy

Sometimes the struggle to be “holy” is more on the person’s understanding about what is considered a “sin” or their interpretation of what is really a sin. Before the 1960’s and the advancement of technology, a sinner would do what they did behind closed doors and not that many people would even know about it. Because of the advancement with technology like television, cell phones, texting, YouTube, Facebook and the internet our Sins are brought to the light and not just before God but before millions and millions of people and thus today, we have more controversy about how a Christian should carry themselves. If someone says they’re a Christian and yet, they are behaving in a Carnal fashion, the world wants to call Christians who voice their opinion about their behavior as people who are being hypocrites or who are “judging” others. As Christians, the only way to truly convict someone for their actions is through the word of God and not our emotions or feelings about the situation.

10 As it is written: "There is no one righteous, not even one; 11 there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. 12 All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one."13 "Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit." "The poison of vipers is on their lips."14 "Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness."15 "Their feet are swift to shed blood; 16 ruin and misery mark their ways, 17 and the way of peace they do not know."18 "There is no fear of God before their eyes."19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God.20 Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin. 21 But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify.22 This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference,23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25 God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished—(NIV Romans 3:10-26).

12 The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. 13 Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy.14 Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature (NIV Romans 13:12-14). Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature (Col 3:5-10)

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; 29 Being filled with all unrighteousness , fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,31 Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them (KJV)

For the acts of the sinful nature are obvious (Galatians 5:19-21). They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them (Romans 1:29-32). Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: I warn you, as I did before that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:9-10, Gal 5:19-21??) But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who Calls himself a brother With such a man do not even eat (1 Corinthians 5:11).
