Christian vs. Believer is there a Difference?

The word Christian means a follower of Jesus Christ 23 Then he (Jesus) said to the crowd, "If any of you wants to be my follower, you must put aside your selfish ambition, shoulder your cross daily, and follow me. 24I f you try to keep your life for yourself, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for me, you will find true life. 25 And how do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose or forfeit your own soul in the process? 26 If a person is ashamed of me and my message, I, the Son of Man, will be ashamed of that person when I return in my glory and in the glory of the Father and the holy angels (NLT Luke 9:23-25).

Christians choose to take to heart Christ's principles, deny his flesh or what he “feels” he should do for the greater good of his soul and when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. And it came about that for an entire year they met with the church, and taught considerable numbers; and the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch" (Acts 11:26).

When someone chooses the Christian faith, it means you are signing up to do a complete transformation of the old man to the new man 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. 25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another (KJV Ephesians 4:23-25).

Never let your peers or society sway your conviction about proclaiming who you are as a Christian or a Believer. If you are a believer, then stand on the word and proclaim you are a “Believer in Jesus Christ”. Don’t feel uncomfortable to proclaim your Christian faith just because there are a lot of Carnal Minded Christians or misrepresentatives. Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed ; but let him glorify God on this behalf (I Peter 4:16).  Pray for them knowing that through God, the time will come when they will be convicted for not representing the body of Christ as they should knowing that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God (KJV Galatians 5:21).

There are some people including men and women of God who have pondered this question, “Should we call ourselves Believers or are we Christians? Because there are so many people who profess they are Christians and yet their actions do not line up with the word of God or the example Jesus Christ as shown us that they no longer want to be called Christians if it means they too should act like that of Carnal Christians. They also believe that the word “Christian” is really just a label, a title and so to no longer acknowledge themselves as “Christians” but as “Believers” is just easier. So many people take the word Christian and throw it around as if it is something they just have or just a label that can be changed with the stroke of a pen that we should take some time to determine is there a difference between these two words Christians or Believers.
